Karen founded Citywealth after a career at News International, The Times, and Sunday Times in the legal, financial and recruitment sections. She also ran the Legalease flagship title Legal Business/Asia Pacific Legal 500, and launched Legal Business Awards and Legal 500 parties. Karen then took over In Brief magazine, where she grew the organisation from a buyout where it had gone bankrupt to a successful £500,000-a-year publishing and events business. Her work as a Citywealth CEO was recognised by four New York Stevie Awards: Women helping women (2014, 2015), Innovator of the year (2015), and Entrepreneur of the year (2015).
Alexander Greter advises banks and other financial services providers and fiduciaries as well as Swiss and foreign private clients. His expertise lies in the areas of international trust law, regulation of financial products, financial services and financial institutions including anti-money laundering regulation as well as automatic exchange of financial information such as FATCA and the Common Reporting Standard. He is also regularly advising on estate planning, matters concerning charitable foundations, tax law and general commercial and corporate law.
Elizabeth specialises in advising large and complex family groups, particularly those involving trusts. Her client base ranges from landed estates and their associated enterprises, to families who have diversified away from the original family business, realising capital, and who now require private wealth advice. As a private client adviser she also advises high net worth individuals, both those domiciled in the UK and outside the UK. Whilst Elizabeth’s role has an advisory focus, she oversees the compliance aspects on her clients, including the annual tax compliance and, where relevant, the preparation of trust accounts. Elizabeth is a member of the firm’s Private Wealth and Estates Group, Trust Forum and Estates Discussion Group. She has presented at internal and external events including the firm’s annual Rural Business updates.
Hannah is a Chartered Accountant (CA), Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP). She also holds a BA (Hons) in History & Culture from the University of Warwick and the STEP Advanced Certificate in UK Tax for International Clients. Hannah joined Alex Picot Trust in January 2016 after spending over 3 years in the tax department of a Big 4 firm. She joined the Board Directors for Alex Picot Trust in October 2020. Hannah was named in the eprivateclient UK Top 35 under 35 in 2019 and in the Channel Islands Top 35 under 35 in 2019 and 2020. She has also been awarded GOLD in the Trustee of the year - Director category of the 2020 Citywealth Future Leaders Awards and listed in the 2020 Citywealth Future Leaders Top 100. In addition to her role as Director looking after private clients, Hannah is responsible for Jersey tax compliance and the company’s FATCA and CRS reporting. She also has wide experience in UK tax compliance; including ATED (Annual Tax on Enveloped Dwellings); non-resident Capital Gains Tax; the non-resident landlord scheme; and UK domiciliary tax regulation.
James is Director at Tilney Smith & Williamson, where he advises clients on their investments, governance and philanthropic activities. He specialises in looking after multi-generational and multi-jurisdictional wealth. Having started his career in 2005 as part of the M&A team at Citigroup in Frankfurt, James joined TS&W in 2016, as part of the acquisition of Thurleigh where he was a Senior Portfolio Manager. He is a Chartered Fellow (Chartered FCSI) of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) as well as a Member (TEP) of Society of Trusts & Estate Practitioners (STEP) having completed the Diploma in International Trust Management. In 2019 he became the first UK Investment Manager to complete the STEP Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Private Wealth Advising (PPgD) in conjuncture with Alliance Manchester Business School. James sits on both the STEP Worldwide Council and the CISI International Committee. He is also an Ambassador for The Diversity Project.
Mario joined Capital Generation Partners in 2016. He is part of the research function within the Investment Team, where he specialises in identifying the most valuable managers and strategies across the hedge fund space, with a particular focus on discretionary macro strategies. Mario holds an MSc in Investment Management from Cass business School and is a CAIA Charterholder.
Phyllis Townsend is a senior associate in the Wealth Management practice in London. Phyllis joined in 2012 from Rothschild Wealth Management & Trust where she was legal counsel in London and Zurich. Phyllis works with clients on a broad range of wealth management matters. Phyllis is a member of the Baker McKenzie EMEA Wealth Management Steering Committee.
Robert is a Jersey Advocate, and English and BVI barrister, specialising in trusts, company, commercial and insolvency litigation. Robert has extensive experience of acting for and advising clients in high-value commercial matters in particular involving breach of trust claims, directors’ breach of duty claims, trust disclosure and other administrative proceedings in relation to trusts, enforcement of foreign orders in relation to trusts, actions to remove trustees and protectors, unfair prejudice claims, freezing injunctions and insolvency procedures. He has acted for beneficiaries, shareholders and other individuals in disputes with larger institutions such as trust companies, banks and other lenders. He is experienced in obtaining litigation funding where necessary for impecunious clients. Robert also acts for some major trust companies, and advises trustees and directors on their duties, including in insolvency situations.
Shivi joined Camilla Baldwin in February 2019 and advises on the full breath of family disputes, with a particular emphasis on the division of matrimonial assets and child arrangements. After achieving First Class Honours in her Law degree and a Distinction in her LPC, she was trained by a Deputy District Judge at a West London firm, before joining a boutique Family Law firm in Henley-upon-Thames. Simon focuses on trust litigation, and wills and estates disputes, both onshore and offshore and commercial disputes including fraud, partnership and minority shareholder actions, tax litigation, IP and areas of marital law such as pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements. Simon has considerable experience in advising on corporate transactions, wealth planning and trust matters for a wide range of clients, which include individuals, trustees, beneficiaries, protectors, charities and corporate entities Simon administered a UK trust corporation for a number of years and has acted as in-house counsel providing primarily commercial contracts advice.
