Karen Jones

Karen founded Citywealth after a career at News International, The Times, and Sunday Times in the legal, financial and recruitment sections. She also ran the Legalease flagship title Legal Business/Asia Pacific Legal 500, and launched Legal Business Awards and Legal 500 parties. Karen then took over In Brief magazine, where she grew the organisation from a buyout where it had gone bankrupt to a successful £500,000-a-year publishing and events business. Her work as a Citywealth CEO was recognised by four New York Stevie Awards: Women helping women (2014, 2015), Innovator of the year (2015), and Entrepreneur of the year (2015).

James Netto

James is a Partner at The International Family Law Group LLP. He specialises in all areas of children law, with particular expertise in international children matters. James is a Solicitor Advocate, and regularly conducts his own advocacy in the family and High Courts. James is highly experienced in cases concerning the international movement of children. He is a specialist in international parental child abduction cases and is regularly instructed by the parents and children within the UK and abroad, as well as by the Central Authority.

Oliver is an associate in the Wealth Management department of Baker & McKenzie in London. Oliver advises high net worth individuals, trustees and banks on a wide range of private client, private company and trust tax issues. His current work includes advice on personal tax residence and domicile for internationally mobile individuals; personal tax investigations and cross border tax planning for international trust structures. Oliver is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Before moving to Baker & McKenzie, Oliver worked at PwC, advising ultra high net worth families as well as individuals within the Private Equity sector.

Guillaume Staal

Guillaume is a Jersey Advocate specialising in trusts, company and commercial litigation. Guillaume has extensive experience of acting for and advising clients in high-value commercial matters in particular involving breach of trust claims, trust disclosure, other administrative proceedings in relation to trusts and enforcement of foreign orders against trusts. Guillaume also advises clients in respect of a range of issues including contractual disputes, claims for breach of directors’ duties, enforcement of foreign judgments and associated freezing and disclosure orders. Guillaume is ranked by Legal 500 2021 as a “Next Generation Partner”. Guillaume has also been listed as “One to Watch” (amongst private client lawyers in the world) in Legal Week’s Private Client Global Elite 2020-21.

Sophie Voelcker

Sophie advises some of the firm’s largest family clients regarding their wealth structuring, succession planning and trusts. Herfocus is primarily on UK resident and/or domiciled individuals, trustees and beneficiaries, with a particular interest in cross-border taxation and succession issues affecting UK expats in France and Malta. Sophie also has experience providing tax and trust advice in the context of matrimonial disputes and pre-nuptial agreements. In addition to the firm’s own Foundation, having established and registered a number of charitable trusts and companies for clients. Sophie is a member of STEP (the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners).
